Andrea Torres MD
Endocrinologist

Dr. Andrea Torres was born in Puerto Rico. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Science Pre-Professional and Psychology. Recognizing her calling to the medical field, she pursued her medical education at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center and an Endocrinology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.

Dr. Torres is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and completed the Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) for additional training in thyroid ultrasound and biopsies. As a Navy wife, Dr. Torres practiced endocrinology in Virginia Beach for nearly nine years, during which time she received recognition as one of Coastal Virginia Magazine's Top Docs in 2017, 2018, and 2020. With her vast experience and diverse background, Dr. Torres returned to her homeland, Puerto Rico, where she continued her practice for three years. Fluent in Spanish and English, she takes pride in serving patients from various cultural backgrounds and ensuring effective communication throughout treatment.

Dr. Torres firmly believes in the power of a strong patient-doctor relationship. She recognizes that building trust and fostering open communication is essential in delivering the best possible care. By involving patients in their healthcare decisions and educating them about their treatment options, she empowers them to participate in their well-being. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Torres enjoys traveling and cherishes quality time spent with her husband, and two daughters.
